Dear advanced students,
We are going to run a competition about mini-sagas to be published in the blog.
Your story must be 50 words exactly (not including the title) and you must include at least two adverbs. Contracted forms (e.g. I’d) count as one word. First choose one of the titles below.
A holiday romance Revenge is sweet
Never again The lie
b Think of a plot. Then write a first draft without worrying about the number of words.
c Now count the words and then try to cut or add words until the story is the
right length.Write your final version and hand in to your teacher next Tuesday.
Have a look at some interesting mini-sagas students from other years have written.
BEAUTIFUL LIAR
Five minutes to start my English class:
Today, I have to write a "minisaga". I was having a coffee near the school
thinking about the story I had to write. The waitress saw me worried and she just
told me: "write my number and you will have a perfect plot."

SWEET REVENGE
She was
waiting to cross the street while a man was driving incredibly fast.
Unfortunately, there was a puddle on the road and a water curtain fell on her.
She couldn’t get changed because she had to interview a candidate for a job.
She entered her office and surprise!, the man was there.

A HOLIDAY ROMANCE
He'd been working a lot and needed a holiday. His travel agent was a funny, beautiful girl who suggested him to travel to Venecia .When he arrived at the hotel she was already there. They spent together
every day: walking along the streets, sailing by gondola while their gondolier
sang...
Marga Alonso
They met on the beach. It was very hot and both decided to have a bath. It was love at first sight. They went for a walk, had dinner, even slept together. But unfortunately they have never been able to see each other again since their owners took them home.

NEVER AGAIN
I went to
have dinner at a Japanese restaurant for the first time was three weeks ago at
my friend´s birthday. Incredibly, the food was really delicious, but after
taking the first course I got a strong red rash all over my body. Luckily, the hospital was opposite the restaurant.

THE LIE
When I was a child, I found a 100 pesetas coin in the street and then
two more coins! Afterwards, I quickly went to buy two rackets and one
ball. When I happily arrived home due to my "self-gift", my parents
asked me about that. Can you guess their reactions?

STUDYING LANGUAGES
Last Monday morning, Marcos and Javier were studying English. Marcos
asked Javier,“What’s the meaning of stronger?” Más fuerte, Javier answered
kindly. Marcos asked again with a higher volume, “what’s the meaning of
stronger?” Más fuerte, Javier repeated. Finally Marcos shouted angrily, “Are
you deaf or what’s wrong with you?”
